Yusara, a Celestial Monk of the Light.
The world of Alessia is a world of high fantasy that combines Wuxia, science fiction, and magic-driven technology. It is a massive world where magic and technology coexist, impacting every aspect of life, from the Healing Houses of Sillias to the great Towers of Xin. It is a land where Fyrean Genies meet with Asrian Wardens and The Gangs of Khatu push their Drifters across the desert sands, seeking resources and victims of every kind.
Alessia is a world where the Sovereigns, in the act of unification, merged into a single pantheon – forming The Path of Light. It is a land where medical advancements, evolution, and ki energy form not only a methodology to achieve progress, but instead form a way of life. For the people of Alessia, the path to success is girded with honor, hard work, bravery, and a need to do good.
Alessia is a land at the height of its glory, held aloft by the Four Pillars of Light – Mercy, Truth, Hope, and Courage. It’s churches primarily unified, and its clergy working in unison, the people of Alessia enjoy what others think is only an illusion – a slowly blossoming utopia. However, Alessia is not without its challenges. Having suffered an ecological disaster that would have ended smaller planets, it’s taken the people of Alessia nearly a thousand years to pull themselves up from the ruins of the War of the Sovereigns; from the decaying Galgaræ to the Shadows of Venn, the once-vanquished forces of darkness creep again, slowly pushing against the Rings of Heaven, hoping to find purchase in Alessia once more.
Today, the Empire of Xian and its Imperial Peacekeepers stand the watch, fulfilling their ancient compact with the citizens of Alessia. Working in unison with most of the Path of Light, these two forces have set out to keep Alessia safe, sound, and a bastion of hope for another millennium – no matter what.
Eight Things Everyone Knows About Alessia
-
The Empire of Xian is Alessia’s largest, and most powerful, empire. Spanning several continents, including Elysia, Fyrea, and into southern Shiran. Imperial Peacekeepers are a common sight in most occupied lands.
-
Racism is a rarity in Alessia. Although it does exist in backward corners of the world, millennia of racial cooperation between the species has given rise to what other societies consider utopian ideals. The game does not, by default, include "racial hatreds" of any kind.
-
Religion has evolved. While others bicker over the names of gods and spirits, most of the people of Alessia have but a single faith – the Church of Light. Although some remote regions still hold tightly to their old gods, most of the civilized world follow the Path of Light.
-
Technology and magic have merged into a singular science that most people simply call Magitech. Unlike the technology of other worlds, Alessia boasts an extensive array of options that citizens – both rich and poor – can use to enrich their lives.
-
Galgaræ, the Last Dragon crashed into Alessia at the end of the War of the Sovereigns, forming a completely new continent on the western coast of Velestra. That impact did irrevocable damage to Alessia, giving rise to all sorts of strange horrors.
-
Skyships Abound! Because of its size, Alessia has developed numerous, safe and affordable forms of air travel that connect it. While these fleets are almost exclusively under the control of the Empire of Xian or neighboring nations, civilian houses have embraced them as well.
-
Kaimi walk the lands. Although nearly all religions have evolved into the Path of Light, the spirits of the land that the ancients once honored have not departed, but instead have taken steps to combine their efforts with that of the rest of the people seeking health, happiness, and light.
-
Houses of Healing have improved nearly everyone’s quality of life. Where archaic and outdated philosophies demand fealty in exchange for healing, the people of Alessia know that, in most places, healing is only a few doors down – at a cost that is marginal at best.
